Do you put directions dye on wet or dry hair? ›

Should I Use Directions Hair Dye On Wet Or Dry Hair? Directions are best used on hair that has been dried with a towel only. A small amount of moisture / slightly damp hair will ensure you get even coverage and get the best results.

Neutral shades like soft blonde, mushroom brown, light copper, and caramel blonde balayage are the easiest to blend gray into (and maintain over time without wanting to shave your hair off).

Covering gray hair doesn't have to require hair dye. If you don't have the time (or desire) to color your hair, look to hair accessories to hide your grays. A silky scarf, chunky headband, or even a sunhat can quickly cover graying strands while adding a touch of glam to your look.

Directions Semi-Permanent Hair Colour can be used on both natural, virgin hair as well as lightened hair. Results are most intense on bleached and blonde hair. If your hair is darker than medium brown, you can achieve really nice effects by using very bold shades.

Dish soap is made to break up oil on dishes, which it will also do to your hair, so beware of desert-dry tresses if you try this method. Fortunately, if you go through the effort of using this drying soap on your dyed hair, it can help remove unwanted color.

Don't bother with a tint brush if you've dyed hair before, just slop it on as normal and make sure it's evenly applied. The pot says to use it on towel-dried hair and leave for about 20 minutes.

White Vinegar and Water. Like lemon juice, vinegar is acidic and good for cleansing. Many people use vinegar as a scalp cleanser, but it can also remove hair dye, so use caution if that's not your intent. If it is, you can mix white vinegar with warm water and apply it to your hair to remove hair color.
