BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — There are events scheduled this summer inviting the community to talk about how to reduce violent crime in the Baton Rouge area.
One event is an annual bike ride bringing families together to show solidarity and promote peace. Mayor Pro Tempore LaMont Cole’s Pedaling for Peace starts at 6 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Shoppers Value located at 5355 Government St.
Bikes will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own bikes.
For the first time this year, Cole is adding two new events to discuss solutions to fighting crime.
There will be two showings of the movie premiere “Life or Death the Silky Slim Story” at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at the AMC Theatres location at the Mall of Louisiana.
A Mother’s Cry luncheon will be from 1:30-4 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at BREC Headquarters, located at 6201 Florida Blvd. This event includes workshops for mothers who have lost a child as a result of gun violence.
